Prior completing her LLB, she worked as a Registered Nurse for approximately 15 years. She also holds a Diploma in Nursing (general, community health, psychiatry, midwifery) & Palliative Care. She is currently completing a PhD that focuses on criminal law defences and battered woman's syndrome. While at Herold Gie Attorneys, she tutored Criminal Law at UNISA.Ĭaroline joined the UWC Law Faculty in 2013. She is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and completed her articles at Herold Gie Attorneys in Cape Town. After she completed her LLB, she was UWC's first recipient of the South African German Centre for Transnational Criminal Justice (TRANSCRIM) DAAD scholarship and was awarded a LLM in Transnational Criminal Justice and Crime Prevention – an International and African Perspective. She is a graduate of the University of the Western Cape (UWC). Her research focuses on substantive criminal law, criminology and economic crimes. She also lectures Criminal Law in the Certificate in Forensics Examinations.
